We have designed this website so that it can be used by a wide audience on a range of platforms. The pages have been built to meet as many of the web content accessibility guidelines 1.0 (level 1) checkpoints as possible. For more information on accessibility visit the Worldwide Web Consortium (W3C).

If you think there are improvements we could make, we would welcome your feedback.

We have built in access keys to allow you to navigate the site using the keyboard should you wish to do so.

Access keys
'Access keys' are a way of jumping immediately to important parts of the page you are reading, by using the keyboard instead of a mouse.

This site uses the UK Government's recommended access keys standard. The following access keys are available on every page:

S - Skip navigation - takes you straight to the main content of the page
0 (zero) - Accessibility information (this page)
1 - Countryside Access Home Page
5 - What you need to know
8 - Terms and conditions
9 - Feedback

If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 or above, you can operate access keys by pressing the ALT key and the access key at the same time, and then pressing Return.
For example, to jump to the Countryside Access home page, press 'ALT + 1', then press 'Return'.

If you are using Netscape, you can operate access keys by pressing the ALT key and the access key at the same time. You will be taken straight to the page requested. For example, to jump to the Countryside Access home page, simply press 'ALT + 1'.

Increasing Text Size
Accessible websites allow you to customize the font size to suit your personal preferences. Most browsers will allow you to change the font size. Below is a screenshot of Internet Explorer's "text size" menu option - most browsers have a similar feature - usually somewhere in the "View" menu. In Internet Explorer, for example, click into the view menu, scroll down to 'Text Size' and choose the desired text size from smallest, smaller, medium, larger and largest.

Please see the "help" section in your browser for more details on customisation.
